Jonathan Kuminga Named on Major Trade List

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently published an article in which he recommended three potential trade targets for each NBA team. Jonathan Kuminga, a forward with the Golden State Warriors, was mentioned twice on the list, once by the Washingtоn Wizards and once by the Charlotte Hornets.

This is purely editorial, and by no means implies that Kuminga is being singled out or shopped, but it is worth keeping the possibility open. Several media reports speculated that the youthful forward Kuminga could be traded for a high selection pick prior to the NBA draft. It didn’t work out that way, but the Warriors could be open to trading Kuminga for an established winner right now.

Golden State is still shorthanded at the forward position, but Kuminga and Moses Moody show promise for regular minutes next year. Moody was a go-to reserve for Steve Kerr in the playoffs last year, while Kuminga saw less action. Since betting on Kuminga as a high-level rotation player next season is a bit of a risky proposition for the Warriors, he may be traded for a player more in line with their need to win right now.

While making predictions this early in the offseason is risky, it’s safe to assume that numerous teams would be interested in signing Kuminga if he become available.
