Sixers’ Nick Nurse pulls off perfect Craig Kimbrel impersonation during Angels-Phillies first pitch

Nick Nurse, the skipper of the Philadelphia 76ers, is a baseball expert. The new Sixers manager is familiar with Craig Kimbrel’s hallmark system. On Wednesday, before the series finale between the Los Angeles Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, Nurse threw out the ceremonial first pitch and taught the crowd the Kimbrel posture.Nurse didn’t stop there, though; he also won because his pitch was perfect. From the pose to the actual throw, he nailed it. The Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia 76ers’ fans could not have asked for more.

The Phillies lost to Shohei Ohtani and the Angels by a score of 10-8, so Nurse’s charisma wasn’t enough to help the team win.

Nurse appears to be making good progress toward his goal of becoming thoroughly acclimated to Philadelphia prior to the 2023–24 NBA season. Philadelphia sports fans will love him even more if he shows to be the best candidate for the position. The 2022-23 NBA season was the Sixers’ best ever, as they finished 54-28. Philadelphia’s playoff performance was a major letdown despite the team’s great lineup, which was led by the tandem of James Harden and Joel Embiid. After losing in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the team fired head coach Doc Rivers.Nurse, who previously coached the Toronto Raptors, one of the Sixers’ Atlantic Division opponents, is now responsible for turning around the Sixers’ NBA fortunes. Nurse’s chances of immediate success in Philadelphia are largely contingent on the personnel he’ll be given to work with. Nurse has already secured a bona fide superstar in Embiid, the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player. James Harden is still on the squad, but he and the 76ers don’t exactly see eye to eye.Whether or if he can finish his first season as Sixers head coach as well as Kimbrel did in his peak remаins to be seen.
