By drafting Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green within five seasons, the Golden State Warriors have created an incredible homegrown dynasty. After the duo won their first championship, the franchise drafted Kevon Looney. Looney has won three championships since 2015, and Mychal Thompson believes they should all retire as Warriors players.

“It is reasonable. According to him, Draymond and Steph should never again don uniforms. Or should never again be required to don a uniform. This also applies to Kevon Looney. This young man is a Warrior to the core. He must also resign as a Warrior in another ten to twelve years.”

Even though Kevin Durant won two championships, the impact of these four athletes is undeniable. Even Looney, who is younger than Curry, Green, and Thompson, may not make it to the conclusion of his career with the Warriors, given that the NBA is a brutal league.

All four participants have given their all.

Looney is a true competitor on the court, manning the paint and participating in any system designed by Steve Kerr. He did not immediately join the rotation, but was the starting center during the 2022 championship run. Since being selected in 2015, he has averaged 5.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and is already considered a franchise legend.

Klay Thompson was one half of the greatest backcourt in NBA history. Even after missing two seasons due to ACL and Achilles injuries, Thompson remаins a mainstay for the Golden State Warriors. Since joining Golden State in 2011, he has averaged 19.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest.

Draymond Green has been the Warriors’ defensive lynchpin for over a decade and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. His career averages of 8.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists have never been impressive, but his on-court IQ and role as the Warriors’ primary facilitator have rendered him irreplaceable.

Stephen Curry may be the best point guard in NBA history, and he established his legacy with the Golden State Warriors. Even though he was eclipsed by Durant during the three seasons he spent in Golden State, he has been the team’s leader throughout this entire run. Curry’s career averages of 24.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.5 assists indicate that the Warriors would be foolish to trade him away.
