The Warriors are preparing for training camp by holding workouts with a handful of NBA veterans

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Golden State Warriors are still doing workouts with senior NBA players as they attempt to flesh out their roster.

Scotto lists Dewayne Dedmon, Will Barton, Jaylen Nowell, Stanley Johnson, and Derrick Favors as players that have been given tryouts, in addition to the previously reported Kent Bazemore and Juan Toscano-Anderson.

Scotto mentions the fact that three of these players are not new to the team. Toscano-Anderson won a championship with the Warriors in 2021-22, and both Bazemore and Dedmon saw little action in their first year with the squad.

According to Scotto’s sources, Barton will also be working out with the New Orleans Pelicans soon. Before being moved to the Wizards and then the Toronto Raptors last year, he was a regular starter for the Denver Nuggets over the course of several seasons.

Scotto chimes in that Favors recently tried out with the Portland Trail Blazers. Although the 32-year-old center signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks in January, he did not play for the team.

Despite rumors that the Minnesota Timberwolves would be open to a sign-and-trade for Nowell, who last season had a career-high 10.8 PPG, he has yet to find a new team. The Dallas Mavericks were rumored to be interested in signing Nowell this summer, but the move never materialized.

Johnson, who has played for five different clubs in the past four years, averaged 5.8 PPG while shooting 45 percent from deep for the San Antonio Spurs in 30 games last season.

There are 13 guaranteed contracts on the Warriors’ roster, and the team is hoping to fill one of its two available spots before the season begins. The Warriors have signed three players to Exhibit 10 contracts and filled one two-way spot, giving them room to add two more players before training camp begins.
