Zach Buckley from Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade scenario involving Paul George that would see the LA Clippers and Miami Heat as potential trade partners.
However, it’s important to note that this trade idea operates under the assumption that the Miami Heat do not acquire Damian Lillard, as this proposal represents the most they could offer for him. Nevertheless, similar to the reason why the Portland Trail Blazers have been hesitant to accept Miami’s offer for Lillard, the Clippers would likely not entertain this offer for George.
Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson are talented players, and the draft picks included in the deal hold value. However, even with these assets, it’s unlikely that the Clippers would be inclined to part ways with Paul George. Given their current team composition, featuring veterans like Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook, and with a new arena set to debut next season, the Clippers are not in a position to trade George for a package like the one proposed.
Trading George at this juncture would be a challenging decision for the Clippers. Despite earlier speculation regarding his contract situation and injury concerns, the team’s actions, such as re-signing Westbrook, exploring a potential James Harden trade, and publicly committing to their current star duo, indicate their intention to make a final push for championship success with their existing core.
The trade could be:
Clippers receive Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2028 first-round pick swap.
Heat receive: Paul George.
