Chelsea reach agreement to sign Victor Osimhen

Report: Chelsea secure agreement to sign Victor Osimhen ahead of 2024 transfer window

Victor Osimhen has been named one of 30 nominees for the 2023 Ballon d’Or Award, following a breakout season with Napoli in which he scored 31 goals across all competitions.

Chelsea are apparently leading the race to capture Napoli midfielder Victor Osimhen, and a suggests they have already agreed on a contract, according to Soccernet.ng.

The 24-year-old was perhaps the most sought-after striker in this summer’s transfer window, but Napoli remained hard and retained their center-forward.

Other clubs’ interest in the Nigerian forward, on the other hand, is not going away anytime soon.

Osimhen has had a great year, being named one of 30 contenders for the 2023 Ballon d’Or Award following his title-winning season with Napoli last season.

Last season, his 26 goals guided Napoli win a rare Serie A title, elevating him to one of the world’s most highly regarded strikers.

Chelsea have apparently chosen to make Osimhen their priority summer target in 2024.

Meanwhile, they are claimed to have jumped ahead of rival bidders such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain in the hunt to recruit him.

According to TEAMTALK, they were pleased enough merely to add Nicolas Jackson up front this summer because they had previously agreed to a deal with Osimhen

Chelsea’s center-forward position has been a source of contention for some time. Players like Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have excelled elsewhere but have struggled to reproduce their abilities at Stamford Bridge in recent years.

Mauricio Pochettino’s main alternatives at center-forward this season are Jackson and Armando Broja, as well as another new signing, Deivid Washington.

Christopher Nkunku was also brought in from RB Leipzig over the summer to provide a new element to their attack, but he has since been injured.

Chelsea could be in a solid position to offer Osimhen the next step and his first taste of Premier League football, depending on how they perform this season.

The former Lille striker has began the season where he left off last year, hitting three goals in three games.

Osihmen also scored a hat trick in Nigeria’s 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday in Uyo.
