Asmir Begovic feels that Chelsea’s approach to acquiring Moises Caicedo was misguided

The west London club has spent over £1 billiоn since new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over a year ago, but they still managed to finish 12th in the Premier League last season and are in the same spot this year after winning just one of their first four games.

Begovic thinks the club’s new recruitment strategy, which focuses almost solely on players under the age of 23 with room for improvement, is at contrast with the club’s trophy-winning heritage under Roman Abramovich.

The former goalkeeper went as far as to sаy that he hardly recognizes the current Chelsea team and that the decision to sign Caicedo rather than compete with Arsenal for Declan Rice sums up the club’s demise.

Begovic stated on an episode of The Byline podcast, “Surely you spend £120m on Declan Rice if you’re spending £115m on Caicedo.”

I don’t know Declan, and I’m not saying he doesn’t want to play for Arsenal, but I really believe he would have preferred to join Chelsea.

It makes you wonder, “How is Declan Rice going somewhere else?” when you take a look at some of these players. In the past, athletes like Declan Rice, who is currently in his prime, would sign with Chelsea.

“I watch football like a mаd man and I’m not familiar with half these players!” he exclaimed. It all just seems so strange to me. This whole transitional period of rebuilding the team seems like an excuse to me.

I’m not trying to imply that I dislike Enzo Fernandez, but if we’re going to spend £230 million on him and Caicedo, I’d much rather have Declan Rice. Please have the greatest players enter through this door.

And he said, “I meаn, honestly, in the last year… what has happened at Chelsea football club?” It’s beyond unbelievable.

If you look at the budget and the players at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal, they’re in the middle of the pack. A liar

You’ve had some [poor] luck with Christopher Nkunku, but he’s a great player and I sympathize. The arrival of Cole Palmer has been delayed. What really is happening, though, with the signing of these athletes? As a football team, why is Chelsea reorganizing?

For what reason is Chelsea FC going through a change? I would rank this as a top pick. I guess you could sаy that I “get it” because I’ve been there. Feeling honored to have participated. It’s been called “one of the world’s best places to play football.”

‘I remember being around athletes in the locker room, world class, world class, world class,’ he continued. Purchasing from Barça, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Potential players, we’re buying them from Brighton. I get that you need to contribute, but where are the truly elite performers?
