Broja has been out for the entire year of 2023 due to an ACL ιnjury he sustained in a pre-Qatar World Cup friendly versus Aston Villa.
On the other hand, Badiashile hasn’t played for Chelsea since their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest back in May due to a hamstring ιnjury.
The Evening Standard reports that while several of Chelsea’s regular players were away on international duty, the two played in exhibition matches.
Both players were noticeably absent from Chelsea’s Friday morning training, so their returns are not likely to be forthcoming.
This means that neither player will be available for Chelsea’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend, with next Sunday’s match against Aston Villa being considered a more likely return date.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has to be cautious with Broja because of the severity of his ιnjury.
Pochettino also wants Broja to remain healthy because Chelsea currently has a dearth of striking options until Christopher Nkunku returns in a few months.
As there are currently only three available healthy central defenders for Chelsea, the manager will also appreciate having extra defensive options.
Pochettino can only use Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, and Levi Colwill due to the absences of Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah.
When facing Liverpool, West Ham United, Luton Town, AFC Wimbledon, and Nottingham Forest in their first five games, the Blues managed only one clean sheet.
Newly acquired Romeo Lavia, whose comeback from ιnjury has Һit a snag, was also unable to attend Friday’s practice.
The Belgian midfielder missed last week’s action due to international duty, and a new ailment he sustained since then will keep him out for even longer.
Despite signing with Chelsea for £60 million in August from Southampton, Lavia is yet to make his debut due to an ankle ailment.
