Mason Greenwood was recommended to relocate to Spain, but GETAFE’s boss has recanted his statement  Jude Bellingham was behind the suggestion.

Exiled from Manchester United, Greenwood made his loan debut with Getafe on Sunday, three months after Bellingham left for Real Madrid.

New Bernabeu hero Cristiano Ronaldo has been credited with helping to convince Jose Bordalas that he made the right decision in signing the striker.

When Greenwood entered the game in the 77th minute against Osasuna at home, he was met with a largely enthusiastic response.

But the visiting fans seemed to mock him.

They reportedly shouted “Greenwood Ԁie” as well, as reported by Guillermo Rai of The Athletic.

Greenwood entered the game at the 2-2 mark and it was his shot that led to a corner, which was then converted by Serbian midfielder Nemanja Maksimovic for the game-winning goal for Getafe.

Bordalas then disclosed that Bellingham, age 20, and an old Three Lions’ comrade had put him on the transfer of the hitman.

Spanish speaker: “I had indicated that Mason Greenwood came to Getafe because he had spoken with Jude Bellingham.

They assured me that wasn’t the case, and I take their word for it.

That’s contrary to what the 59-year-old said earlier this week on the Spanish sports station RadioMarca.

Bordalas, upon hearing the news of the transfer, exclaimed, “It was a surprise, we never thought we could get a player like that.”

We didn’t believe it was going to happen, but they reached out to our athletic director Ruben Reyes and after some discussion, both teams made an attempt to make it financially feasible.

Greenwood encouraged Bellingham to join the Spanish league because the two are buddies.

United’s 1-0 home win over West Ham on January 20, 2022 was the last time the academy product has seen action prior to this past Sunday.

After Greenwood’s arrest later that year, the team released him on suspension.

After an internal investigation, United decided in August that Greenwood would not play for the team.

“All those involved, including Mason, are aware of the challenges associated with him returning to his career at Manchester United,” the statement read.

Therefore, we will collaborate with Mason to make it possible for him to do so in a location other than Old Trafford, as was previously agreed upon.
