Romelu Lukaku, fresh off his loan move from Chelsea, scores his first goal for Roma in a 7-0 thrashing of Empoli

On Sunday night, Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for Roma, a 7-0 hammering of Empoli.

After a dismal return to Chelsea, the Belgian will spend the upcoming season on loan with the Serie A powerhouse.

In the 86th minute, Lukaku, still looking for the miracle goal that would launch his Roma career, scored his team’s sixth goal.

The 30-year-old finished off a stunning cоunterattack with a toe-poke into the bottom corner, giving Jose Mourinho’s team their first league win of the season.

Mourinho decided to play Lukaku over Andrea Belotti in his first Serie A game, and Lukaku rewarded his manager’s confidence by scoring in stoppage time.

Besides the two goals scored by ex-Juve forward Paulo Dybala, other scorers included Renato Sanches, Bryan Cristante, Gianluca Mancini, and an own goal.

There was a great outpouring of emotion around the stadium as former Manchester United striker Lukaku eventually reached the back of the net, and the Roma players celebrated enthusiastically with him.

In his postgame press conference, Mourinho praised Lukaku for providing a ‘new feel’ to the team, but he argued that the Belgian’s first goal ‘wasn’t significant.

“I didn’t think it was that significant. It could be significant to him because, as a striker myself, I know how much a goal means to a player.

Since his arrival, he has put team success ahead of individual accolades. It’s ideal for him to score in front of the Curva, and he’ll undoubtedly feel better after leaving the field following a goal.

Romelu has a unique personality on the team, and no one has quite figured out how to play around him yet, and he certainly hasn’t gotten the hang of playing for us. Games aid in the process, and we have the time to devote to it.

Romelu must be made to feel loved and desired in order to be happy. When he got here, he saw that the team really needed someone with his skills. He is a competitor who enjoys triumph.

Inter shouldn’t be upset because they won the derby 5-1 and have so many fantastic goal scorers, in my opinion. Therefore, they should be pleased for their former coach, who desperately needed a striker.
