Giorgi Mamardashvili is the main target for Chelsea
Giorgio Mamardashvili continues to be of interest to Chelsea, who may be looking to replace their current goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer window.
According to 90 Min, Chelsea has added Giorgio Mamardashvili to their shortlist and is appearing more and more likely to recruit a new goalkeeper. The Valencia-based 22-year-old La Liga superstar is still a possibility, but any transfer will be based on what he wants to get paid.
Since joining Valencia, Giorgio Mamardashvili has quietly established himself as a key player for the team. The Georgian’s success with Los Che during the just ended summer transfer window piqued the interest of other elite clubs.
Mamardashvili plays with a lot of vigor and has the potential to be one of the best keepers in the present. Top teams are more and more hunting for stoppers with traits beyond the bare minimum. Chelsea was interested before to the summer window but went a different route.
In reality, after selling Edouard Mendy to Saudi Arabia and loaning Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid, they made the decision to completely rebuild their goalkeeping staff. They signed Djorde Petrovic after the latter departure, which wasn’t anticipated.
Robert Sanchez moved to Madrid for £25 million from Brighton. As Chelsea’s No. 1, he took Kepa’s place. The Spaniard hasn’t been particularly persuasive, though, as Chelsea has struggled to maintain relevance since the season’s beginning.
Numerous keepers are included in the report as part of their prospective shortlist. The narrative raises the potential of a new keeper showing up in the window. Coincidentally, Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail reported that they were considering a move for Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal, whose spot is now being endangered by David Raya.
Top clubs were interested in signing the 22-year-old La Liga sensation Mamardashvili. One of them apparently failed with a deal after Thibaut Courtois’ injury was Real Madrid. Chelsea, however, is also interested in the player from Valencia.
He was supposedly placed up for sale by Valencia in an effort to raise money during the prior transfer window. No club expressed interest in signing Mamardashvili for their asking price, but his exit is still a possibility.
In the following window, Chelsea might consider making a play for the Georgian, but that will depend on his asking price. Additionally, they could assess Sanchez’s performance between now and January to decide whether or not they absolutely must purchase a new goalkeeper.
