Kelly Obure may join Sixers for 1 year deal

The Philadelphia 76ers are poised to secure Kelly Oubre Jr. on a one-year deal at the veteran minimum, multiple sources have affirmed.

Oubre, a versatile swingman, will bolster the Sixers’ training camp roster, bringing it to the league’s maximum limit of 21 players. However, it’s essential to note that during the regular season, NBA teams can only carry a maximum of 18 players. This allocation comprises 15 on standard contracts and three designated as two-way players.

Standing at 6 feet 7 inches and weighing 203 pounds, Oubre showcased his prowess last season with the Charlotte Hornets, achieving a career-high scoring average of 20.3 points per game. This addition could prove invaluable to the Sixers, who found themselves in need of sharpshooting reserve perimeter players following the departures of Jalen McDaniels, Shake Milton, and Georges Niang in free agency.

Oubre’s ability to make a significant impact from beyond the arc was on full display last season, recording double-digit games with at least four three-pointers. In one memorable performance against the Miami Heat on November 10, he sank seven three-pointers while tallying 29 points.
