Eduardo Camavinga spoke in the press room at Real Madrid City and gave his thoughts on the team’s Champions League opener against Union Berlin (Wednesday, 6:45pm CEST): “They’re a very strong team who play with a lot of  intensity. It’s going to be tough. We have to be patient when we have the ball but also play with intensity. We’ll have chances and we’ll have to take them”.

The squad“Real Madrid are always favourites when it comes to the Champions League and we have a lot of top players in this team”. The Santiago Bernabéu“It’s a very beautiful and iconic stadium. I’m delighted to play in a stadium like this. It’s even nicer now and we have to wait until it’s finished. We’ll see all of its beauty”.

His personality“I’m a laid-back person. The first time we won a trophy I thought we’d have a party in the dressing room but that didn’t happen. I’ve picked up a different mentality here, but I’m relaxed”. Areas of improvement in his game“I don’t score enough goals and I need to get to the opposition’s goal more often. I have to get better in these aspects and I’m already trying to do that on the pitch”.

His experience playing left-back“I’m a team player and everyone knows that I don’t like playing in that position, but there are times when you have to do things for the team and I did it. As a result of that I’ve played more and I’ve picked up more experience. I don’t like the position, but I had to do it for the team”.

His best friend in the dressing room
“I like to hang out with the younger players, I get on very well with Tchouameni, who is French, and also with Vini Jr, who is Brazilian. We’re a young group and we always hang out as a group. I don’t prefer one player to another. I learned from Casemiro, Luka and Kroos.
