The Spanish full-back was one of the debutants in a derby and the stage was too big for him. In the first half all the danger came from his side. He was not good either up front or in defense. He was exchanged for Mendy.

Kroos
The German was once again a starter in a big game and was one of the few things that Ancelotti’s team could salvage. He scored a tremendous goal after a great shot that gave the whites a bit of wings. He left in the 70’s for Brahim.

Camavinga
The former Rennes player left a game with lights and shadows, quite irregular and without making a difference in the midfield. He came close to scoring with a long-range shot. He was replaced by Tchouaméni.

Valverde
The charrúa was not even 1% of what we are used to. He did not show his peculiar stride, he did not break lines and he was very soft with and without the ball.

It wasn’t Modric’s day either. The Croatian barely came into play in the first 45 minutes and as if that were not enough he was substituted at half-time.

It was the Briton’s first derby and he probably won’t have good memories of it. He was marked at all times by Atlético’s defense, he could not receive with ease and was overwhelmed by the game. Proof of this was the tough tackle that cost him yellow minutes before the end of the match.

Atlético is one of his favorite rivals, but the Brazilian could not vindicate himself in the face of criticism for his lack of goals. In the first half he was missing, on an islet, as the only attacker. In the second half he improved, but failed to show a good level.

He came on at half-time for Modric. He brought down a good ball for Rodrygo. He pivoted very well to open the game to his teammates, but he didn’t have great chances.

Tchouaméni
He came on for Camavinga in the 57th minute. He had a good chance from outside the area. He fulfilled his role well, cutting off Atlético de Madrid’s counterattacks and filtering the occasional ball.

He came on for Fran García in the 57th minute. He received a yellow card shortly after entering after a tough challenge. His performance on the field was very discreet.

He came on in the 70th for Kroos. He left good details and great individual plays. He was one of the few who tried while the game was dying.
