Ja Morant and Nike collaborate to develop the “We Aint Ducking No Smoke” pack, which takes inspiration from his infamous press conference

Building the Ja Morant sneaker line has been a hectic summer for Nike, and it seems like they are launching a new colorway every few weeks. The inspirations for the sneakers have, to put it mildly, been unusual, but this new colorway is based on one of Morant’s most well-known off-court incidents. On April 19, 2023, the Nike Ja 1 was first made available. The “Day 1” colorway sold out in a matter of minutes, which was a blatant sign that the sneakers would be a big hit. Since then, Nike has planned for the near future to include more than 10 different hues. The “We Aint Ducking No Smoke” colorway was inspired by one of Ja Morant’s news conferences from the previous year.

 

 

The black mesh upper of the Nike Ja 1 “No Smoke” will have a light grey heel backing. The tongue and sockliner are both black, and the midsole and outsole appear to be off-white. In keeping with the motif, the Nike Swoosh is made of hazy translucent material and is covered in smoky grey. The most distinguishing feature of these is the written phrase by Ja Morant, “We Ain’t Ducking No Smoke,” on the outer heels. The inner-tongue, heel tab, and one of the “JM” tongue logos all include Morant’s number “12” in bright yellow.

The sneakers will be available on October 6, 2023, and will cost $130 at retail. They will appear in full-size runs and be sold on the Nike SNKRS app, Nike.com, and Nike retail locations. Visit Sneaker News for photographs with more specifics.
