Andre Iguodala Explains Why He Doesn’t Belong in the Hall of Fame
Andre Iguodala, who has played in the NBA for 19 years, has had a successful career but does not believe he belongs in the Hall of Fаme.
The 39-year-old has won four titles and been named Finals MVP, but he believes there should be different tiers of the HOF and that certain distinctions should be held for a select group.
Iguodala remarked on The Old Man and the Three, “I’m not a ring culture guy, but I’ve benefitted from that.” “I am well aware of my many shortcomings. I recently had the thought that the Hall of Fаme should be divided into other categories. In my opinion, I do not belong in the Hall of Fаme. I would have to sаy no, no, no, and no. The individuals that made it into the Hall of Fаme were flawless. And I consider myself to have been competent, but I simply can’t compete with guys like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Quite a few of us are unable to. They need to be off in their own little universe. After that, Michael Jordan (MJ) should be off in his own universe. Just look at how great MJ was.
Iguodala does have a point. Without Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, he would not have won four championships.
Perhaps Iggy is not one of those players who will be remembered for decades to come because he has only been named an All-Star once.
However, Curry gave his support for Iggy’s induction into the Hall of Fаme last year.
The speaker said, “Absolutely, I didn’t know that was much of a debate.” remarked Curry on Dubs Talks. For all his experience, “he’s kind of the mature vet that’s still putting up solid numbers, but impacting winning at a level that is a difference maker.”
Without a doubt, Iguodala’s presence on the Warriors roster was a major factor in the team’s rise to the status of a basketball dynasty.
Iguodala may one day be inducted into the HOF due to the unique procedure by which such honorees are chosen.
