Warriors receive critical ιnjury update on veteran guard ahead of 1st preseason game
The question of who should start for the Golden State Warriors has been answered, at least for the time being. The Warriors plan to start Chris Paul alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Kevon Looney because Draymond Green is out with an ankle ιnjury. Green’s comeback will undoubtedly prompt some inquiries, but Steve Kerr need not rush to any conclusions just yet.
During training camp, the Warriors also have to decide who will be cut from the team. Rodney McGruder, a seasoned guard, is one of several qualified possibilities.
However, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors will be without Rodney McGruder for this weekend’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Lakers since McGruder is now participating in concussion protocol.According to Slater, Rodney McGruder’s performance against the Lakers shouldn’t affect his standing with the Warriors. There are presently two available roster spots for the Warriors, who have 13 players under contract on regular, guaranteed contracts. McGruder, along with other players like NBA veteran Rudy Gаy, is in the running for one of those berths.
McGruder played with the Pistons of Detroit last year. With a 40.8 field goal percentage, a 42.3 three-point percentage, and an 81.8 free throw percentage, he averaged 5.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 32 games (12 starts), with a 40.8 field goal percentage and a 42.3 three-point percentage.
The Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Clippers were two of McGruder’s previous stops throughout his seven years in the NBA. After going unnoticed in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Heat picked him up from the G League in preparation for the 2016–17 NBA season.
