Shaquille O’Neal is now focusing on the booming Nevada sports market, which has seen the relocation of both the NFL and the NHL to Las Vegas in recent years.
The former Los Angeles Lakers player and current ‘Inside the NBA’ broadcaster, though, has made it obvious that he prefers to have his own ownership group rather than teaming up with LeBron or anyone else.
O’Neal has stated, “I would like to have my own group.” Although Las Vegas does not currently have an NBA franchise, should that day come, I would love to be a part of it.
I’m not interested in teaming up with anyone. I demand a share of it all.
There are currently no plans to expand the NBA.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver is now focused on renewing the league’s domestic television contract, which is set to expire in 2025, before considering any expansion ideas.
Las Vegas and Seattle, despite this, have been discussed as potential expansion destinations for the league.
As part of their $10 billiоn plan to revitalize Las Vegas’s nightlife sector, developers Oak View Group have made room for an NBA arena.
Incorporating a hotel and casinos into the concept demonstrates the city’s interest in potentially hosting another major sports franchise in the near future.
O’Neal is a successful entrepreneur.
As for whether or not O’Neal will buy a Las Vegas NBA franchise, only time will tell. However, the former center is no stranger to business dealings.
O’Neal is a businessman with a diverse portfolio that includes restaurant franchises and a minority stake in the Sacramento Kings.
He addressed his supporters, “Till we meet again,” after selling his share of the company last year.
