It has been stated that West is currently homeless and living outside a 7-11 store in Virginia, begging for money. In a recent article by Dana O’Neil of The Athletic,,various NBA figures remarked about West’s predicament and the efforts they have taken to ameliorate his situation.

Delonte West’s former teammates discuss his current predicament.

While visiting Saint Joseph’s University with Delonte West, O’Neil spoke with former NBA point guard Jameer Nelson, who said that many individuals had contacted out to support him.

It makes me want to cry. He is surrounded by people who care about him and would do anything to assist him, but ultimately, it is up to him to make the effort. I’m here if he needs me. For as long as he needs me, I’ll be here. I made an effort, and I will make more, but he needs to do his part. He must want assistance in order to receive it.

In Dallas in the year 2020, West was spotted asking for alms. Mark Cuban, owner of the Mavericks, rescued him from homelessness, arranged for his medical care and housing, and gave him a second chance at life. West also secured employment, but he was back out in public by July 22. Since then, he has reportedly been living in Virginia.

Cuban just stated, “I thought I could help” when asked about his aborted attempt to rescue Delonte West. I did my best. Actually, I did. Didn’t we all? This is fair. Just utter despair.

Before leaving for a brief time in China in 2012, West was a member of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. His time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics stands out in the annals of NBA history.
