Chris Paul was mocked by his teammates for his tippy-toed stance during a jersey exchange with Wemby

Chris Paul, guard for the Golden State Warriors, was mocked online for his awkward stance when he exchanged jerseys with San Antonio Spurs youngster Victor Wembanyama during Friday night’s final preseason game at Chase Center for the 2023 NBA season.

Wembanyama, 19, is 7 feet 3 inches tall, whereas Paul, at best, is only 6 feet tall. He needed a few more inches of height for the picture, so the veteran stood on his tiptoes.

Paul’s feet were the first thing that social media users noticed in the photo and video posted by @ShaynaRubin on X (Twitter).

Many people made jokes about the situation, drawing parallels between Paul and the wrestler Rey Mysterio and the WWE superstar Big Show.

After the final buzzer, Wemby and Paul were seen exchanging pleasantries and jerseys; it’s unclear who initiated the trade.

Paul, 38, is starting his first season with the Warriors and 18th in the NBA. Meanwhile, the first overall pick is the odds-on favorite to be named the league’s Rookie of the Year.

The Warriors open the season at home against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, while the Spurs welcome the Dallas Mavericks the next night. When Wemby took the opening tip against Stephen Curry and the Warriors, they seemed even smaller than usual.
