Heat’s Jimmy Butler Responds to Chants From T’Wolves Fans by Blowing Kisses to Crowd
Though Jimmy Butler is no longer with the Timberwolves, his legacy lives on. And the fans made sure their former star knew it during the Heat’s 106-90 victory over Minnesota on Saturday night, a game in which Butler missed due to rest in the second half of a back-to-back.
The crowd started yelling “Where is Jimmy” at Butler, who was sitting on the bench wearing street clothes, with about two minutes left in the game. Butler welcomed it with an instant smile and then got up to give the audience kisses, which made them decide to be polite and give him some affection.
Before being traded to the 76ers, Butler played in just 10 games in 2018–19 and 59 games in 2017–18 during his tenure with the Timberwolves. He reportedly led the third-stringers to a victory over the starters in practice, told the first unit about it, and then left practice right away. It was a turbulent end to his time in Minnesota.
Following his one and only season in Philadelphia, he signed a four-team sign-and-trade deal to join the Heat. With Miami, Butler is starting his fifth season. In the previous four years, he has guided the team to two NBA Finals and one Eastern Conference Final.
