Basketball superstars Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry are humanitarians with noble hearts

Superstar basketball player Steph Curry, who is well-known for his amazing shooting ability in the NBA, and his wife Ayesha Curry, a best-selling author in the New York Times, are increasing their efforts to assist children in the Oakland Unified School District. Over the next three years, the pair, who founded the nonprofit “Eat. Learn. Play,” hopes to raise $50 million for the educational system.

The Currys declared their commitment to giving all children, especially those from disadvantaged homes, access to literature, safe play areas, and high-quality food.

“These kids deserve an opportunity to achieve their full potential, especially those from the Black and Brown communities,” Curry told CBS News.

“It’s the fact that these are three very simple things in life that every child should have access to, and so when you’re not afforded these things, it’s like, how can I even dream?” stated Ayesha Curry.

“Eat. Learn. Play.” was introduced in 2019 and has had a big impact on Oakland already. The nonprofit has given away 25 million meals, renovated 12 playgrounds, and contributed $6 million to literacy initiatives.

Kids are closely involved in the Currys’ charitable endeavors; they provide their opinions on playground layouts and plan activities like fun runs and outings to the baseball.

They understand the value of playgrounds and how much they may impact a child’s development.

“I meаn, that’s where you met most of your friends, build confidence and the sense of community,” remarked Steph Curry.

The pair ensures that every dollar received for the charity stays in the community by paying for all of its operational expenses.

Workday, a software company, hosted a golf tournament fundraiser that raised almost $2 million, greatly aiding in the organization’s purpose.

Co-founder of Workday Aneel Bhursi stated, “I’ve attended a few of Steph’s playground projects. It’s amazing. We’re all happy and in tears at the same moment because we can see the possibilities.”

After Steph Curry’s playing career is over, the Currys want their charity to continue as “a lifelong project.”

Apart from their philanthropic endeavors, Steph Curry has been the focus of the documentary “Underrated,” providing a close-up view of his transformation from a small child with a strong work ethic to an NBA champion. The Curry family’s love and support for one another, as well as their private moments, are shown in the documentary.

Curry shines a light on the people he loves most in some of the cutest moments, demonstrating his devotion to his family.

During their CBS News interview, Steph and Ayesha chuckled over who initiated contact.

“I told her I would be in the area and she reached out to me and gave me her number, and that’s how I remember it,” said Steph Curry.

“I guess I gave you my number, but you reached out initially — bottom line,” Ayesha Curry replied.

“We were a couple, eager for romance,” chuckled Steph Curry.
